UGO serien
Designed by the world famous Piet Hein
Piet Hein's beautiful bar stool UGO is part of the UGO series. It was developed in collaboration with the Piet Hein family, and is based on Piet Hein's old sketches, where his famous SUPERELLIPSE® is used. It was this formula that made Piet Hein world famous. The UGO series consists of a bar stool in two heights and a stool. All three are available with either an oak seat or a leather seat from SPOOR leather.
UGO
In the 1940s, Piet Hein created what he called GROOK. There are thousands of grooks by Piet Hein, and we probably all recognize the lines by Piet Hein, that keeps bringing a smile to our lips.
The grooks were written in the years from 1939 to shortly before Piet Hein’s death in 1996.
The grooks were created in Piet Heins alias Kumbel Kumbell. It’s hard to define what a grook really is, but it to put it shortly, it says what anybody may think of themselves. Of course, Piet Hein was a poet and an artist, meaning that he would always put pertinent new perspectives on these everyday observations. In the grooks he would also present his reader with a small instruction, in what must be the finest of arts – the art of living.

Sustainability
In Piet Hein's UGO series, the seat is handmade in Denmark from beautiful oak, which is wood from FSC®-certified forests (FSC® N002763). This means, among other things, that in the forest, no more wood is felled than the forest can manage to reproduce. This also means that consideration is given to both animals, the environment and people in and around the forest. The oak veneer is shaped so that the shape of the seat, seen from above, matches Piet Hein's super circular formula. You can also choose the seat with traceable leather from SPOOR. It is a high-quality leather that can be traced back to the animal it came from.
The frame of the UGO series is made in Denmark from recyclable black powder-coated steel.

One of the very special things about Piet Hein is, among other things, his way of uniting the artistic with the scientific field, as he developed himself as both an artist and a scientist throughout his life.
Piet Hein created poems, art, design and architecture for almost sixty years. In 1944, he formulated how he approached his work over the years:
"Art is the solution to the problems that cannot be formulated clearly until they are solved"
With his mathematical intuition, he set out to find an absolutely harmonious design. It became what we know as the superellipse and the supercircle – a harmonious geometric figure. At the same time, a figure that is used from furniture design to building activities and road networks. And of course in the elegant UGO series.
The designer - Piet Hein
Piet Hein's UGO series consists of 3 different pieces of furniture – a bar stool in two heights and a stool. The bar stool's seat height is either 65 cm or 75 cm, but due to the shape of the seat, the highest point of the bar stool is approximately one centimeter higher. The stool measures 45 cm in seat height, but of course the shape of the seat also means here that the highest point is approximately one centimeter higher.
The widest point of the bar stool and stool is the distance between the opposite legs. This means that the stool measures 48.8 cm in width at the widest point, the low bar stool measures 52.1 cm and the high bar stool measures 53.7 cm.
