The Story Behind
Line Olesen, founder of MAKE nordic
The story of MAKE nordic begins with a home, a dream, and a deep love for interior design. And at the same time, with a belief that the life lived and the memories created leave the most beautiful traces.
"We do not have items on display. Items are meant to be used."
- Line Olesen, Founder
The Vision Behind MAKE
The dream of becoming self-employed grew out of a desire to create something meaningful. Not just another furniture brand, but furniture shaped by real homes and real lives. Designed with responsibility and longevity in mind, with respect for both people and surroundings.
According to Line, the good life is a life in balance – a life we can live for as long as possible. A life where we take care of ourselves, our surroundings, and the things we surround ourselves with. The same applies to the furniture. If we care for it as we care for ourselves, it can follow us for many years. It is made to be used, repaired, and loved – not replaced. To be a natural part of everyday life. For many years to come.
A home where life is lived
Line lives in a beautiful, old house marked by life and small traces that tell stories of everyday moments and memories. For Line, a home has always been more than just a place to live. It is a focal point. A sanctuary. A place where life is lived. And a place where memories are created.
The interest in interior design has always been about quality of life – not perfection. About surrounding oneself with good materials, beautiful colours, and furniture that feels right deep down. Fewer things, but better.
“I create furniture you can live in, love, and that follows you through life.”
A very special chair
When Line founded MAKE Nordic, the GOLIAT chair was the very first piece of furniture to be launched. A beautiful armchair from the 1950s by Poul M. Volther, created to be used. For long dinners, children’s hands, everyday coffee, and guests who stay a little longer than planned. A chair that is allowed to get a mark – because that simply means it has become part of life.
Every piece of furniture has a story. And even more importantly: it helps create new ones. Memories around the dining table. Everyday moments on the sofa. Lives lived between wood, fabric, and colours.
